ISLAMABAD: President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Azad Jammu and Kashmir and former Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Shah Ghulam Qadir, has dismissed an AI-generated letter circulating on social media as fake, falsely attributed to him.
The letter, which has been widely shared on social media, is presented as a “personal and confidential” communication from Qadir to the Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
The fake letter claimed that Shah Ghulam Qadir had lodged a complaint against a military officer with Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, alleging that a report submitted by the officer had led to his exclusion from the race for the premiership.
The fake AI-generated letter, attributed to Shah Ghulam Qadir, also stated that his daughter was a homemaker and had no affiliation with any non-governmental organisation.

The fake AI-generated letter further urged Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir to order an inquiry into the matter, stating that if the allegations were proven true, Shah Ghulam Qadir would consider himself unfit for public politics and should face action.
However, Shah Ghulam Qadir has denied the letter, describing it as fake and AI-generated, casting doubt on the authenticity of its contents.
Qadir is a veteran political leader of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), with more than three decades of political experience. He has held several senior parliamentary and ministerial positions, including minister for Finance, Planning and Development and minister for Food, and has served twice as speaker of the AJK Legislative Assembly.
He currently serves as president of PML-N AJK and leader of the Opposition.
Born into a prominent Kashmiri family with ancestral roots in Srinagar, Qadir began his political career with the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference. He quickly rose through its ranks and later served as secretary general during Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan’s presidency.
It is pertinent to mention that the AJK elections were held in three phases between July 27 and August 10. Of the 45 directly contested constituencies, polling was held in 38, with the PML-N securing 25 seats and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) winning 12. The lone MLA of the Awami Dast-o-Bazu party joined hands with the PML-N.
