ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Islamabad’s steadfast support for Lebanon’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence.
Prime Minister Sharif made the remarks during a meeting with Lebanon’s Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Ahmad Al-Hajjar, who called on him in Islamabad on Monday, according to a statement issued by the PM House’s media wing.
The Prime Minister condemned Israel’s aggression against Lebanon and conveyed deep sympathy over the loss of precious lives and property caused by the attacks. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the Lebanese leadership and people during these difficult times.
Welcoming the Lebanese Interior Minister, he reaffirmed the longstanding fraternal ties between the two countries. He also conveyed his warm wishes to the Lebanese leadership.

The two sides reviewed bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction over growing cooperation in interior and security affairs.
The Lebanese Interior Minister thanked the Prime Minister for the warm reception and reaffirmed Lebanon’s desire to further strengthen bilateral cooperation with Pakistan.
The Prime Minister also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons, signed by the respective Interior Ministers.
The MoU provides a legal framework for convicted nationals to serve the remainder of their sentences in their home countries.
Pakistan, Lebanon agree to enhance security cooperation
Earlier, Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Lebanese Interior Minister Ahmad Al Hajjar, during a meeting, exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, the evolving regional security environment and prospects for further enhancing bilateral relations in the security domain.
The Lebanese Minister of Interior and Municipalities Al Hajjar called on Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi during his two-day visit to Pakistan, the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said in a statement.
During the meeting, Field Marshal Munir and the Lebanese Interior Minister exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, the evolving regional security environment and prospects for further enhancing bilateral relations in the security domain, ISPR said.
Both sides emphasised the importance of strengthening institutional linkages and fostering greater cooperation between the two countries’ security institutions.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Lebanon and expressed the desire to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation in areas of shared interest.

The Lebanese Interior Minister appreciated Pakistan’s contributions towards regional peace and stability and acknowledged the professionalism and sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces in the fight against terrorism.
The Lebanese Interior Minister arrived in Islamabad on Monday on a two-day official visit to hold talks with Pakistani leadership aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation between the two countries.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry received the Lebanese Interior Minister upon his arrival at Islamabad International Airport.
The visit is expected to provide an opportunity for both countries to discuss matters of mutual interest and explore ways to expand cooperation in different areas, Radio Pakistan reported.
