RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Lebanese Interior Minister Ahmad Al Hajjar, during a meeting on Monday, exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, the evolving regional security environment and prospects for further enhancing bilateral relations in security domain.
The Lebanese Minister of Interior and Municipalities Al Hajjar called on Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, during his two-day visit to Pakistan, the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said in a statement.
During the meeting, Field Marshal Munir and the Lebanese Interior Minister exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, the evolving regional security environment and prospects for further enhancing bilateral relations in security domain, ISPR said.
Both sides emphasised the importance of strengthening institutional linkages and fostering greater cooperation between the two countries’ security institutions.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Lebanon and expressed the desire to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation in areas of shared interest.
The Lebanese Interior Minister appreciated Pakistan’s contributions towards regional peace and stability and acknowledged the professionalism and sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces in the fight against terrorism.
The Lebanese Interior Minister arrived in Islamabad today on a two-day official visit to hold talks with Pakistani leadership aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation between the two countries.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry received the Lebanese Interior Minister upon his arrival at Islamabad International Airport.
The visit is expected to provide an opportunity for both countries to discuss matters of mutual interest and explore ways to expand cooperation in different areas, Radio Pakistan reported.
