ISLAMABAD: The bodies of at least 10 Afghan Taliban members affiliated with the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have been transferred from Pakistan’s border regions to Afghanistan after being killed in clashes with Pakistani security forces, according to sources.
The sources said the bodies were moved over the past week to Logar, Paktia, Maidan Wardak and Baghlan provinces. Four of the bodies were transferred to Logar from Kurram district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The terrorists killed in the clash were residents of Mohammad Agha district and were identified as young members of the Taliban’s military forces in Logar. Sources said the bodies had remained at the site of the clash for nearly three days before being moved to Afghanistan.
Four other bodies were transferred to the Chak and Nerkh districts of Maidan Wardak and Zurmat district of Paktia. The terrorists were killed in an ambush by Pakistani security forces in the North Waziristan border area while attempting to enter Pakistan, according to the sources.
Earlier, two bodies of Baghlan residents were also transferred to the province after they were killed in fighting with Pakistani forces. The two were identified as TTP members who had joined the group after the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan.
The reports point to continued links between the TTP and the Afghan Taliban, with terrorists affiliated with both groups being killed while attempting to operate along Pakistan’s border.
The development comes amid persistent security concerns in Pakistan over terrorist activity from Afghan territory. Islamabad has repeatedly called on Kabul to prevent the use of Afghan soil by the TTP for attacks against Pakistan.
A United Nations Security Council Monitoring Team report published in February 2025 said the TTP continued to receive operational and logistical space and financial support in Afghanistan.
It reported that the group had carried out more than 600 attacks against Pakistan during the period under review, including several launched from Afghan soil.
The UN report also documented the establishment of new TTP training centres in Kunar, Nangarhar, Khost and Paktika, as well as increased recruitment from among Afghan Taliban members. It further noted growing cooperation between the TTP, the Afghan Taliban and Al-Qaeda.

Pakistan has consistently maintained that effective action against terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory is essential for preventing cross-border terrorism and improving security along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
According to Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Nations Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, more than 4,700 Pakistanis have been killed in terrorism originating from Afghanistan over the past three years, and that terrorist groups operate from sanctuaries in the neighbouring country with impunity.
Speaking at a UN Security Council meeting on threats to international peace and security held to mark the anniversary of the Sept 11, 2001 attacks, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad said Pakistan had faced some of the deadliest terrorist attacks by groups including the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and its Majeed Brigade.
“More than 4,700 innocent Pakistanis have lost their lives to terrorism emanating from Afghanistan over the last three years,” Ahmad said. He said the TTP, BLA and Majeed Brigade continued to operate from sanctuaries in Afghanistan with “significant external support”.
