ISLAMABAD: Despite Pakistan’s 3-0 Test series whitewash against England, veteran seamer Mohammad Abbas stood out as one of the series’ leading performers, earning the joint Player of the Series honour alongside England pacer Ollie Robinson.
Abbas was recognised for his consistent impact with the ball and valuable contributions with the bat despite Pakistan failing to win any of the three Tests. The 36-year-old finished the series with 13 wickets from five innings at an impressive average of 25.38, proving a constant threat to England’s batters.

Abbas shines with ball and bat despite Pakistan’s first clean sweep in England
Abbas also contributed 86 runs during the series, including a career-best 42 in Pakistan’s second innings at Edgbaston. His crucial knock helped Pakistan avoid an innings defeat and set England a target of 130 in the final Test.

The right-arm seamer had a relatively quiet opening Test at Headingley, taking only one wicket. However, he produced his best bowling performance of the series at Lord’s, claiming nine wickets for 130 runs across the two innings.
He opened the match with figures of 4/73 before completing a five-wicket haul in the second innings, his only five-wicket haul of the series.
In the final Test at Edgbaston, Abbas added three more wickets for 122 runs and contributed 63 runs with the bat, further underlining his all-round value to Pakistan.

Robinson, who shared the award with Abbas, finished as the series’ leading wicket-taker with 21 wickets in six innings at a remarkable average of 8.76. He also scored 58 runs.
The England pacer’s best performance came in the first innings of the opening Test at Headingley, where he claimed a five-wicket haul, his fifth in Test cricket.
