JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet has condemned the Houthi attacks targeting civilian and economic sites in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran, describing them as heinous acts of aggression.

The Cabinet reaffirmed the Kingdom’s right to defend its sovereignty and protect its citizens and residents, while rejecting attacks by the Yemen-based militia on commercial vessels and international maritime navigation in the Red Sea, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, chaired the Cabinet session held on Tuesday in Jeddah.

Spokesman for the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen (Coalition Forces), Major General Turki Al-Malki, on Tuesday, said that the escalation by the terrorist Houthi militia and its attempts to target the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its national assets, its citizens, and residents on its territory is a dangerous escalation that confirms the hostile and irresponsible approach of this terrorist militia.

In a statement, he added that the terrorist Houthi militia’s senseless attacks, the latest of which targeted civilian and economic sites in the cities of Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, and Najran, resulting in injuries to 73 civilians, including women and children, constitute a blatant violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and a direct threat to the security and safety of its citizens and residents.

“These sinful and unjustified attacks committed by the terrorist Houthi militia deliberately harm the Kingdom’s national resources, facilities, and civilian sites, and confirm its extremist criminal behaviour that rejects achieving peace and stability in Yemen and its Arab and Islamic neighbours,” he said.

The Cabinet reviewed the outcomes of Saudi Arabia’s participation in regional and international meetings, highlighting the Kingdom’s continued efforts to strengthen engagement with countries and organisations around the world and enhance joint coordination.

These efforts include advancing multilateral action to support collective initiatives to address global challenges, promote development and economic prosperity, and help build a more stable and progressive future.

The Cabinet also commended the outcomes of LEAP 2026, which saw the launch of initiatives, agreements and investments worth nearly $15 billion across areas including artificial intelligence infrastructure, data centres, cloud computing, technology manufacturing, venture capital and national capacity development. The outcomes further reinforce the Kingdom’s position as a global hub for innovation and a leader in shaping the technologies of the future.

The ministers also welcomed the memorandum of understanding signed between the foreign ministries of Saudi Arabia and Germany to establish a strategic dialogue that enhances consultation and coordination between the two countries.
