Pakistan PM Sharif Reaffirms Strong Ties with Türkiye on Victory Day

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlights deep-rooted bonds of brotherhood between Pakistan and Türkiye.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has extended warm felicitations to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Turkish government and people on the occasion of Türkiye’s Victory Day, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening the two countries’ strategic partnership.

In a message issued on Sunday, the prime minister described the 30 August victory as a defining moment in Turkish history, recalling the triumph achieved under the leadership of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk that paved the way for the establishment of the modern Turkish Republic.

He said Pakistan stood alongside the people of Türkiye in commemorating the historic occasion and paying tribute to the courage, determination and national resolve associated with the country’s struggle for independence.

Prime Minister Shehbaz emphasised that the relationship between Pakistan and Türkiye went beyond conventional diplomatic ties, describing it as a bond between two brotherly nations rooted in shared history, faith and struggles over generations.

He also highlighted the growing strategic dimension of bilateral relations, saying the two countries had recently reaffirmed their enduring defence partnership through the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, alongside Saudi Arabia.

According to the prime minister, the agreement reflected the three countries’ shared commitment to strengthening common security and collective deterrence.

He reiterated that Pakistan remained firmly committed to expanding its strategic partnership with Türkiye across a wide range of areas, with the objective of promoting the prosperity, stability and security of both nations.

The prime minister expressed hope that the longstanding friendship and brotherhood between Pakistan and Türkiye would continue to deepen and flourish for generations to come.

Concluding his message, he expressed the spirit of the bilateral relationship with the Turkish phrase, “Yaşasın Pakistan-Türkiye Kardeşliği!”, meaning “Long live Pakistan-Türkiye brotherhood.”
