ISLAMABAD: A 21-year-old amputee from Gaza, Hasan Nasser, has arrived in Pakistan to begin a new chapter of his life, expressing gratitude to the country for offering him an opportunity to resume his education and pursue his dreams despite the devastating impact of war.
Nasser, who lost one of his legs during the conflict and saw his education disrupted, arrived in Pakistan on a scholarship and is set to begin studying Artificial Intelligence this year.

His social media profile describes him as a “Software Eng. Student”, although it does not identify the Pakistani university where he is pursuing his studies.
Nasser, has expressed hope that the country will support him as he embarks on his educational journey and works to rebuild the life that was disrupted by the war.

In a heartfelt message, Nasser described the past three years of his life as a period in which everything seemed to have been placed on hold because of the war.
“Almost everything was destroyed. I lost my leg, some members of my family, my education was interrupted, and many of my dreams were put on hold,” he said.
Nasser added that his entire family remains in Gaza and continues to endure extremely difficult circumstances.

Despite the hardships he has faced, he said Pakistan had welcomed him warmly and made him feel as though he was in his own country.
“Pakistan welcomed me as if it were my own country and gave me a chance to start again,” Nasser said.
He expressed hope that people in Pakistan would continue to support him as he begins his educational journey.
“I hope everyone in Pakistan will stand by me, support me, and help me in any way they can throughout this journey,” the 21-year-old said.

Emphasising that he was not seeking sympathy, Nasser said he wanted an opportunity to rebuild his life and fulfil his ambitions.
“I am not asking for pity. I am asking for a chance to continue my life and achieve my dreams,” he said.
His story has drawn an emotional response from people on social media in Pakistan, with many users congratulating him on his arrival and wishing him success in his studies.
Several social media users also offered financial assistance and asked Nasser to share his account details so they could contribute to his needs.
