MAKKAH: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held high-level talks with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman in Al Safa Palace, Makkah, on Friday during his official visit to the Kingdom aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and discussing regional security.
The Saudi Crown Prince received Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at Al Safa Palace before the two leaders began delegation-level talks.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was accompanied by Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, and Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif.

A spokesperson of Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs told reporters on Thursday that the two sides will undertake a comprehensive review of bilateral cooperation and exchange views on the rapidly evolving regional security landscape.
The discussions are expected to focus on strengthening the strategic partnership between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, the prevailing security situation in the Gulf, maritime security, the continuing threat posed by Yemen’s Houthi movement, and the wider implications of ongoing regional tensions.

Official Visit
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is on an official visit to Saudi Arabia from August 6 to 8 at the invitation of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Speaking at the Foreign Office’s weekly briefing on Thursday, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said the prime minister’s talks with the Saudi Crown Prince would focus on enhancing bilateral relations and exchanging views on regional and international developments of mutual interest.
Andrabi said the visit reflected the longstanding strategic partnership between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, describing the relationship as one built on decades of mutual trust, cooperation and brotherhood.
The visit is expected to further deepen cooperation between the two countries across political, economic, defence and security sectors.
