RIYADH: Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and six other Arab and Muslim countries on Thursday strongly condemned the ongoing Israeli violations in the Gaza Strip, including attacks on healthcare facilities, civilian infrastructure and the continued killing of civilians.
In a joint statement, the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Indonesia, Pakistan, Egypt and Turkiye said the actions constitute “grave violations” of international law and international humanitarian law, the Saudi Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The ministers affirmed that the continuation of these violations constitutes a clear breach of Israel’s obligations under international law and the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, undermines international and regional efforts aimed at implementing the second phase of the plan, particularly following the announcement by US President Donald Trump that the Palestinian factions accepted the roadmap, including the provisions relating to the confinement of weapons, and threatens to derail the political process, reignite the cycle of escalation, and further deepen the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip.

Protecting civilians, safeguarding healthcare facilities
The ministers stressed that protecting civilians, safeguarding healthcare facilities and humanitarian workers, and ensuring the immediate, safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid, medical supplies and relief assistance across the Gaza Strip are legal obligations that must be upheld under all circumstances.
They said the situation in Gaza cannot be viewed in isolation from settler attacks in the occupied West Bank, the continued expansion of Israeli settlements and unilateral measures aimed at changing the status quo in occupied Jerusalem.
According to the joint statement, these actions form part of a systematic policy to impose a fait accompli by force, undermine the prospects of a two-state solution and deny the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, in violation of international law and relevant UN resolutions.
International community urged to fulfill its responsibilities
The ministers also urged the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities by taking effective measures to ensure Israel complies with international law, including international humanitarian law and UN Security Council Resolution 2803.
They further called for accountability for those responsible for serious violations, saying such steps are essential to protect civilians, preserve the implementation of existing agreements and help achieve a permanent ceasefire.
The ministers stressed their categorical rejection of any attempts to annex the occupied Palestinian territory, impose Israeli sovereignty over it, or forcibly displace the brotherly Palestinian people.
They affirmed that the only path to achieving a just and comprehensive peace is the launch of a serious political process leading to the implementation of the two-state solution, including the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian State based on the 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Saudi Arabia urges global action to end Israeli violations in Gaza
It is pertinent to mention that Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan on Wednesday renewed the Kingdom’s call on the international community to assume its responsibilities by taking practical steps to halt Israeli violations in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank.

Prince Faisal was speaking at the Arab-Islamic countries Ministerial Meeting in Support of Jerusalem and its Holy Sites, hosted by Jordan.

The Saudi Foreign Minister also commended Jordan’s historic role in safeguarding the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem and preserving the city’s historical identity, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
The foreign minister reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s position that East Jerusalem is the capital of the State of Palestine, stressing that all unilateral measures, including settlement expansion and land confiscation, are illegal and cannot alter the city’s legal status or create legitimate rights.
He also reiterated the Kingdom’s rejection of actions aimed at changing Jerusalem’s historical and legal status or undermining its Islamic and Christian identity. He dismissed attempts to invoke freedom of worship to justify measures that seek to impose a new political reality under occupation.
