AMMAN: Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan on Wednesday renewed the Kingdom’s call on the international community to assume its responsibilities by taking practical steps to halt Israeli violations in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank.
Prince Faisal was speaking at the Arab-Islamic countries Ministerial Meeting in Support of Jerusalem and its Holy Sites, hosted by Jordan.
The Saudi Foreign Minister also commended Jordan’s historic role in safeguarding the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem and preserving the city’s historical identity, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
The foreign minister reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s position that East Jerusalem is the capital of the State of Palestine, stressing that all unilateral measures, including settlement expansion and land confiscation, are illegal and cannot alter the city’s legal status or create legitimate rights.
He also reiterated the Kingdom’s rejection of actions aimed at changing Jerusalem’s historical and legal status or undermining its Islamic and Christian identity. He dismissed attempts to invoke freedom of worship to justify measures that seek to impose a new political reality under occupation.
The minister said safeguarding Jerusalem remains a cornerstone of any just and lasting peace, warning that the justification or incitement of violence on religious or ideological grounds runs contrary to the shared values of the Abrahamic faiths and the universal principles of equality and human dignity.

“While the Kingdom welcomed President Donald J. Trump’s announcement to move forward with the implementation of the second phase of the Comprehensive Peace Plan, we strongly condemn the Israeli military violations in the Gaza Strip, which constitute a direct challenge to the agreement, undermine the momentum it has generated, and serve the agenda of those seeking to obstruct and derail the peace process,” Prince Faisal stated.
Prince Faisal renewed Saudi Arabia’s call for the international community to take concrete steps to end violations in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank, protect holy sites, and support the resilience of the Palestinian people.
He also urged the international community to reject hate speech and religious or racial supremacist rhetoric, hold accountable those responsible for incitement and settler violence, and end practices that undermine the prospects for peace and coexistence.
Saudi Arabia’s commitment to Two-State Solution
The foreign minister reaffirmed the Saudi Arabia’s commitment to working with regional and international partners, including through the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution. He noted that the alliance has launched an Interfaith Dialogue Track as part of efforts to advance the Comprehensive Peace Plan.
Prince Faisal stressed that promoting mutual respect and peaceful coexistence among followers of the three Abrahamic religions is essential to supporting political dialogue and achieving lasting peace.
Concluding his remarks, he said Jerusalem must remain a city of peace, coexistence and shared human values rather than a battleground or a place where unilateral realities are imposed.
He added that preserving the city’s historical and legal status is vital to securing a just and lasting peace and ensuring a future of security, stability and prosperity for all the peoples of the region.
The meeting was also attended by Saudi Ambassador to Jordan Prince Mansour bin Khalid bin Farhan, and Minister Plenipotentiary at the Foreign Ministry Dr. Manal Radwan.
Arab, Islamic States to launch diplomatic push to stop Israeli actions in Jerusalem
Meanwhile, Arab and Islamic countries on Wednesday agreed to launch a joint action to mobilise an effective international response to halt Israel’s “illegitimate” policies, measures and practices in occupied Jerusalem, calling for global efforts to compel Israel to respect the historic and legal status quo at the city’s holy sites.

The decision was announced in a joint statement adopted at a ministerial meeting in Amman attended by foreign ministers and representatives from Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Iraq, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Somalia, Palestine, Pakistan, Turkiye, Indonesia and Malaysia, along with the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States.

Arab and Islamic foreign ministers convened in Jordan to discuss the dangerous and unprecedented Israeli escalation in the occupied city of Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites, and to launch joint action to confront all illegitimate Israeli measures that are driving the region towards further conflict, the joint statement stated.
The ministers discussed developments in Jerusalem and its holy sites as they sought to adopt a unified position against Israel’s policies and actions.
The Arab and Islamic countries agreed to establish a sustainable institutional mechanism, including a media platform, to document Israeli violations at the holy sites and mobilise international support against measures that threaten regional peace and stability.
