ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Wednesday reaffirmed its unwavering support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) on the occasion of Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir, marking the seventh anniversary of India’s August 5, 2019, constitutional changes concerning the disputed territory.
In a statement, the Foreign Office said Pakistan solemnly commemorated the day and described India’s actions of August 5, 2019, as illegal and unilateral, saying they sought to alter the internationally recognised disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Foreign Office paid tribute to the courage, resilience and steadfastness of the people of IIOJK and reiterated Pakistan’s continued support for what it described as their just struggle for the right to self-determination.
It said Pakistan remained committed to supporting the people of Jammu and Kashmir in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions and reaffirmed its longstanding position that the dispute should be resolved peacefully in line with international law and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir is observed annually on August 5 to express solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and reaffirm Pakistan’s support for their right to self-determination.
The day marks the anniversary of India’s August 5, 2019, decision to revoke Articles 370 and 35A of its Constitution, ending the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
Across Pakistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, rallies, seminars and other events are being held to mark the occasion.
