ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has taken another step towards digitalising its higher education system after the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) signed an agreement to integrate the country’s degree verification system with a new national digital workforce platform.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aims to enable digital verification of academic credentials while strengthening links between universities and industry to improve graduate employability.
The agreement was signed in the presence of HEC Chairman Dr Niaz Ahmad Akhtar and PSEB Chief Executive Officer Faisal Jeddy, along with senior officials from both organisations.
Under the initiative, HEC’s degree verification system will be integrated into PSEB’s upcoming digital platform, allowing employers to instantly verify the academic qualifications of students and professionals through authenticated digital records.
Officials said the platform will establish Pakistan’s first national verified digital talent repository, featuring secure digital profiles of graduates and information technology professionals.
The initiative is expected to enhance transparency, strengthen trust in academic credentials and simplify recruitment for employers both within Pakistan and abroad.

According to HEC, the integrated platform will help connect skilled graduates with employment opportunities more efficiently while supporting the country’s expanding digital economy.
The commission said the collaboration also reflects Pakistan’s broader efforts to build a data-driven ecosystem focused on skills development, workforce readiness and technology-led economic growth.
Officials expressed confidence that the initiative will improve talent matching, facilitate international employment opportunities and strengthen Pakistan’s position as a source of qualified digital professionals in the global market.
