RIYADH: Saudi aid agency, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) has established a new shelter camp in Deir Al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip to accommodate displaced Palestinians, with a particular focus on people with visual impairments and their families.
The camp offers safe and stable accommodation for families whose homes have been destroyed during the ongoing conflict, providing a more secure environment for some of the enclave’s most vulnerable residents, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Sunday.
The facility was prepared by field teams from the Saudi Centre for Culture and Heritage, KSrelief’s implementing partner in Gaza. The teams constructed specially designed shelter units to meet the needs of visually impaired people and improve their access to a safer and more supportive living environment.
As part of the initiative, 14 tents and food baskets were distributed to the most vulnerable households, benefiting 84 people.
The camp was established in response to the severe challenges faced by blind and visually impaired people in overcrowded displacement centres, where limited mobility and restricted access to essential services have made daily life particularly difficult.
Meanwhile, KSrelief continues to distribute food baskets across displacement centres in southern Gaza as part of its broader humanitarian response aimed at strengthening food security and supporting families affected by the crisis.
The food assistance provides essential supplies to help meet basic household needs while easing some of the daily hardships faced by displaced families and offering a measure of relief to children living through the humanitarian emergency.
The initiative forms part of KSrelief’s ongoing efforts to support the Palestinian people and enhance food security across the Gaza Strip.
Palestinians praise Saudi humanitarian efforts
Earlier this month, a Palestinian delegation praised Saudi Arabia’s humanitarian and relief efforts in Gaza, delivered through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief).
A delegation of Palestinian families and tribal leaders in the Gaza Strip said this during a meeting with the head of the Saudi Centre for Culture and Heritage, Dr Issam Abu Khalil, at the centre’s headquarters in Gaza.

Dr Abu Khalil said the Kingdom’s humanitarian assistance reflects the deep fraternal ties between Saudi Arabia and the Palestinian people.
KSrelief has implemented 155 humanitarian projects in Palestine worth more than $542 million, making the territory one of its largest beneficiaries.
