ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s newly appointed Ambassador to Iran, Imran Ahmed Siddiqui, on Wednesday presented his credentials to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who reaffirmed Tehran’s commitment to deepening ties with Islamabad and praised Pakistan’s role in promoting regional peace through its efforts to facilitate dialogue between Iran and the United States.
Following the credentials ceremony in Tehran, President Pezeshkian held a brief meeting with Ambassador Siddiqui and described Pakistan as a “brotherly country” and a “second home” for all Iranians.
The Iranian president conveyed his warm regards and best wishes to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
During the meeting, President Pezeshkian recalled Pakistan’s valuable efforts in facilitating dialogue between Iran and the United States, saying Islamabad had demonstrated a genuine commitment to peace.
The Iranian President expressed confidence that Pakistan-Iran relations would continue to grow stronger in the years ahead.
Ambassador Siddiqui thanked President Pezeshkian for the warm welcome and conveyed the good wishes of Pakistan’s leadership to the Iranian president and the people of Iran.
The Pakistani envoy highlighted the vast potential for expanding bilateral cooperation in diverse fields, including political, economic, trade and regional cooperation. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to working closely with Iran for regional peace and security as well as promoting unity among the Muslim Ummah.
President Pezeshkian assured the Pakistani envoy of his full support in carrying out his diplomatic responsibilities in Iran.
The presentation of credentials comes at a time of growing engagement between Islamabad and Tehran, with both countries maintaining close consultations on bilateral cooperation, border security, regional stability and efforts aimed at promoting peace and dialogue in the region.
