ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Egypt have underscored the importance of de-escalation and dialogue in the Middle East while emphasising respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states.
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, met on the eve of the ASEAN Regional Forum in Manila, a Foreign Office statement said on Wednesday.
“They also discussed the broader implications of regional instability, particularly for global maritime trade, energy security, and the world economy,” it said.
The two foreign ministers held wide-ranging talks on further strengthening bilateral relations, with a particular focus on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, economic development and coordination at multilateral forums.

They also exchanged views on the situation in Palestine, reaffirming their rejection of violence against civilians and illegal settlement activities in the occupied West Bank.
The ministers reviewed the outcome of the recent Regional Four consultations held in Cairo and reiterated their shared commitment to promoting peace, stability and regional cooperation.
Pakistan-Egypt hold 10th round of annual bilateral consultations
Earlier, Islamabad and Cairo held the 10th Round of Annual Bilateral Consultations (ABC) virtually on 21 July 2026, a Foreign Office statement said on Wednesday.
“The Pakistan side was led by Additional Secretary (Middle East) Zahid Hussain, while the Egyptian delegation was headed by Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs Ambassador Amr Hamza,” it said.

Senior officials from the two Foreign Ministries participated in the consultations, including Aamir Shouket, Ambassador of Pakistan to Egypt, and Ihab Mohamed Abdelhamid Hassan, Ambassador of Egypt to Pakistan.
The consultations provided an opportunity for both sides to conduct a comprehensive review of bilateral relations and discuss ways to further enhance cooperation.
Islamabad, Cairo reaffirm regional coordination
The two delegations highlighted the close coordination between the leadership of the two countries on key regional and international issues, which has contributed to the continued growth of bilateral ties.
During the talks, both sides reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral cooperation and assessed progress under existing institutional mechanisms.
The two sides also stressed the importance of sustaining high-level exchanges and reaffirmed their commitment to continued coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums, including the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
The consultations reflected the warm and longstanding relations between the two states. Expressing satisfaction with the positive momentum in bilateral ties, both sides agreed to maintain regular engagement and hold the next round of Annual Bilateral Consultations in Cairo on mutually agreed dates.
Islamabad and Cairo share longstanding and close relations that date back to the early years of Pakistan’s independence. Egypt was among the first countries in the Middle East to recognise Pakistan, and the two nations have since maintained cooperation in defence, economic development and diplomatic affairs.
Last week, Pakistan’s Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan called for transforming bilateral ties with Egypt into a more robust economic partnership. He emphasised the need for both countries to move beyond traditional trade relations and explore deeper collaboration by positioning each other as long-term strategic investment partners.
Egyptian President appreciates Pakistan’s constructive efforts for regional peace
Last month, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi appreciated Islamabad’s constructive and responsible role in promoting dialogue, de-escalation, and diplomatic engagement in the region.

President Sisi also commended the contributions of the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, and the Chief of Army Staff aimed at fostering regional peace and stability, according to a statement issued by the Foreign Office on Sunday.
“President El-Sisi expressed the hope that ongoing efforts and the next phase of negotiations would contribute to lasting peace, security, and prosperity across the wider region,” it said.
The Egyptian President said this during a joint call by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Foreign Minister of Turkiye, Hakan Fidan, and Foreign Minister of Egypt Dr. Badr Abdelatty in Cairo.
