RIYADH: The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, on Saturday condemned Iran’s “treacherous” attacks on Gulf states in the strongest terms and termed them “war crimes”.
“Iran’s actions constitute a highly dangerous escalation, a grave violation of international law and the United Nations (UN) Charter, as well as war crimes requiring international accountability and prosecution, given the deliberate targeting of infrastructure and civilian facilities in flagrant violation of all international norms and conventions, and a persistent determination to destabilise regional security and stability,” the GCC chief said in a statement.

Kuwait reports Iranian attacks on civilian sites, vital infrastructure
On Saturday, Kuwait accused Iran of targeting civilian sites and vital infrastructure in the country, after reporting attacks on an oil facility and a power and water plant.
Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry expressed Kuwait’s condemnation of the “Iranian aggression” that targeted the country’s territories this morning, striking another power generation and water desalination station, facilities affiliated with the oil sector, and a number of vital installations, resulting in outbreaks of fires and the infliction of severe damage to vital installations, civilian facilities, and residential buildings.
“The repeated targeting of these vital facilities reveals a systematic hostile approach targeting civilian sites and vital infrastructure that endangers the lives and safety of civilians,” the foreign ministry said.
The Ministry affirmed that the repeated targeting of vital installations reveals a systematic aggressive approach that targets civilian assets and essential infrastructure, endangering the lives and safety of civilians, in flagrant violation of international law, international humanitarian law, the United Nations Charter, and Security Council Resolution 2817. It further held Iran fully responsible for this treacherous aggression and its repercussions, demanding that it immediately cease its assaults.

Saudi Arabia condemns Iran’s continued aggression
Saudi Arabia on Saturday strongly condemned Iran’s continued aggression on Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan, reaffirming its full support for the three countries in all measures they take in response to the Iranian attacks that violated international law.
In a statement, the Saudi Foreign Ministry said the Kingdom supported all measures taken by Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan in response to Iranian attacks that violated international law.
The Kingdom also reiterated its utter rejection of Iran’s blatant attacks on infrastructure and civilian and vital facilities, including a power and water desalination plant in Kuwait. It stressed the importance of an immediate halt to all forms of military escalation, in a manner that preserves the security and stability of the region’s countries and their peoples.

Qatar says attack on Kuwait ‘crosses all red lines’
Meanwhile, Qatar condemned in the strongest terms renewed Iranian attacks on the territories of Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait, calling them a “flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the targeted states and the integrity of their territories, and a blatant breach of international law, the United Nations Charter, and the principles of good neighbourliness”.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirms that targeting power stations and water desalination plants in the State of Kuwait crosses all red lines, and constitutes a brazen violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2817, and what it contains in terms of emphasis on respecting the sovereignty of these states and the integrity of their territories, and rejecting the targeting of civilians and vital facilities,” Qatar’s foreign ministry said in a statement.
The ministry added that the continuation of these attacks represents a dangerous escalation which complicates efforts to contain regional tensions and undermine political and diplomatic endeavours aiming to ensure regional security and stability.

“The ministry stresses the necessity of an immediate and complete cessation of all military actions and attacks that threaten the security and stability of the region, refraining from everything that would expand the scope of escalation, and a serious return to the path of dialogue and negotiations, and commitment to the understandings achieved through diplomatic efforts,” the statement concluded.
Jordan condemns Iranian attacks on Gulf states
Meanwhile, Jordan also condemned renewed Iranian attacks on Bahrain and Kuwait, in which a Kuwaiti power and water desalination plant was struck, state news agency Petra News reported.
“The attacks are a blatant violation of the sovereignty of countries, a threat to their security, stability and territorial integrity, a dangerous escalation, and a flagrant breach of international law and the United Nations Charter,” it added quoting the kingdom’s Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs.
The ministry reiterated Jordan’s full solidarity with Bahrain and Kuwait, and supports “all measures they take to protect their sovereignty, security, and the safety of their citizens and residents”.

UAE slams Iranian attacks on Gulf states
The United Arab Emirates condemned in the strongest terms renewed attacks by Iran targeting Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan with missiles and drones.
In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that these hostile attacks “constitute a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the brotherly nations and a threat to their security and stability”.
“The ministry reiterated the UAE’s full solidarity with the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Kuwait, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and its support for all measures aimed at safeguarding their security and stability,” the statement added.

Pakistan urges adherence to Islamabad MoU commitments
Pakistan on Saturday urged the United States and Iran to fully uphold their ceasefire commitments under the Islamabad MoU and avoid any actions that could further escalate regional tensions.
The Islamabad MoU was signed on June 18 by US President Donald Trump, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, following Islamabad brokered a ceasefire between Washington and Tehran.
Under the Islamabad MoU, the US and Iran committed to halt military operations, reopen the Strait of Hormuz to commercial shipping, and negotiate a comprehensive agreement covering Iran’s nuclear programme, US sanctions, and a permanent ceasefire within 60 days.

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar received a telephone call today from his Kuwaiti counterpart Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. During the telephone conversation, the two Foreign Ministers discussed the latest developments in the region, Pakistan’s Foreign Office said in a statement.
Ishaq Dar underscored the urgent need for de-escalation and stressed the importance of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states. He emphasised that maintaining regional peace and security must remain the foremost priority.
Deputy PM Dar also underlined the importance of upholding ceasefire commitments under the Islamabad MoU and avoiding any actions that could further escalate tensions.

Iran targets facilities in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) said on Saturday that it launched strikes on the US military bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain.
IRGC said that its naval forces launched drone and missile strikes on a US fleet fuel support pier at Al Ahmadi port in Kuwait and Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain.
The IRGC also claimed to have destroyed a US intelligence data centre in Bahrain, known as Batelco, as well as a US signals and communications centre in Kuwait, according to Iran’s semi-official news agency Tasnim.
Kuwait Petroleum Corporation said, “one of the vital sites in the oil sector was subjected to repeated brutal Iranian attacks, resulting in a number of injuries and significant material losses”.
“The injured were provided with medical assistance and the site was evacuated, while the response to the attack is being handled in coordination with the relevant state authorities,” the statement noted, according to the country’s Kuna news agency.
