WASHINGTON: Pakistan and the United States have discussed expanding economic cooperation, with a focus on investment opportunities in key sectors including energy, infrastructure, minerals and information and communication technology (ICT).

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, said in a post on X that he held a meeting with Benjamin Black, Chief Executive Officer of the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), where both sides identified potential areas for investment and agreed to strengthen engagement between the two countries.

During the meeting, Ambassador Sheikh presented the official FIFA World Cup 2026 match ball, Trionda, to the DFC chief as a symbolic gesture highlighting Pakistan’s economic potential and growing opportunities for international partnerships.

The two officials also agreed to nominate dedicated focal points to ensure sustained progress and follow-up on areas of mutual interest.

Ambassador Sheikh said a stronger economic partnership between Pakistan and the United States would help reinforce bilateral ties and contribute to a more stable and long-term relationship between the two countries.

The DFC is a US government development finance institution that supports investment in infrastructure, energy and other development projects in emerging markets.
