Egypt Expresses Solidarity with Saudi Arabia against Houthi Attacks

RIYADH: Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty has expressed his country’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia against the missile attacks launched by the Houthi militias.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister made the remarks during a phone call with Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, according to a Saudi Foreign Ministry statement on Tuesday.

“Dr. Badr Abdelatty expressed the solidarity of Egypt and its full support for the Kingdom in safeguarding its security and territorial integrity following the missile attacks launched by the Houthi militias,” it said.

The two sides also discussed the latest developments in the region and efforts to address them.

Arab Parliament Slams Houthi attack on Saudi Arabia

Earlier, Speaker of the Arab Parliament Mohammed Al-Yamahi strongly condemned the Houthi militia’s ballistic missile attack targeting the southern region of  Saudi Arabia, describing it as a grave violation of international law and a dangerous escalation that threatens regional security and stability.

Al-Yamahi affirmed the Arab Parliament’s full solidarity with the Kingdom and its support for all measures it takes to safeguard its security and stability, stressing that the Kingdom’s security is an integral part of Arab national security, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

He said the continued attacks undermine efforts to enhance regional security and stability and to achieve a political resolution to the conflict in Yemen. He also urged the international community to uphold its responsibilities by taking a firm stance to end the violations and hold those responsible accountable.

GCC Denounces Houthi missile attack

Meanwhile, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jasem Albudaiwi also denounced the Houthi militia’s terrorist ballistic missile attack targeting southern Saudi Arabia.

He said the attack constituted a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law, adding that it reflected the group’s continued efforts to undermine regional security and stability while endangering civilians and critical infrastructure, the SPA reported.

Albudaiwi said the Houthis’ continued attacks and alleged violations of international law and the ceasefire required a firm and decisive international response to end such actions and hold those responsible accountable, in order to safeguard regional and international peace and security.

He also reaffirmed that Saudi Arabia’s security is inseparable from the security of the Gulf Cooperation Council member states, stressing that the GCC stands firmly with the Kingdom in all measures it takes to protect its security, stability, and the safety of its citizens and residents.
