JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, held talks with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney in Jeddah on Thursday, with both leaders discussing ways to strengthen bilateral relations as well as the latest regional and international developments.
Following the meeting, the two leaders also witnessed the signing of three memoranda of understanding (MoUs) to enhance bilateral cooperation, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
During the session, the two countries reviewed areas of cooperation and opportunities for development across various sectors, as well as the latest regional and international developments.
The first MoU was signed between the Saudi Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources Canada to enhance collaboration in the energy sector. The agreement was signed by Saudi Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz and Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand.

The second MoU established the Saudi-Canadian Coordination Council, providing a framework for implementing a joint action document that will serve as a roadmap for the next phase of bilateral relations.
The agreement was signed by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah and Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand.

The third MoU, signed between the Saudi Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, focuses on cooperation in artificial intelligence, including investment and skills development.

The agreement was signed by Saudi Data and AI Authority President Dr. Abdullah Alghamdi and Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand.
Earlier on Thursday, the prime minister met with the Kingdom’s Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman and Saudi Aramco CEO Amin H. Nasser to “identify new ways we can partner — and create major opportunities for our energy industries and workers,” Carney wrote on X.
Canada will become a global energy superpower by building our strength at home and forging new partnerships abroad.

On arrival in the Kingdom, Carney said: “Canada is building a new partnership with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia — one that harnesses the ambition of our nations to build greater prosperity and opportunity for our people.”
The visit reflects the growing strength of Saudi-Canadian relations and the shared commitment of both countries’ leaderships to deepen political coordination, expand economic cooperation, and promote greater investment amid evolving regional and global developments.
It also highlights Canada’s interest in enhancing strategic dialogue with the Kingdom and advancing cooperation on issues of mutual interest.
