LAHORE: Pakistan’s Test squad will assemble in Islamabad today to begin preparations for the upcoming tour of the West Indies, where the national side will play a two-match Test series later this month.
The training camp will start as Pakistan prepare for their first red-ball tour of the Caribbean since 2021. The series is part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle.
The Pakistan Cricket Board announced the squad on Sunday, with Babar Azam returning as Test captain. The 31-year-old previously led Pakistan in 20 Tests between 2020 and 2023 and has now replaced Shan Masood.
Masood captained Pakistan in 16 Tests, winning four and losing 12, with a win percentage of 25.
Pakistan are scheduled to depart for the West Indies on July 13. Before the Test series, the visitors will play a four-day practice match from July 18 to fine-tune their preparations.
The two-match Test series will be played in Trinidad and Tobago. The first Test is scheduled from July 25 to 29 at Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, while the second will be played from August 2 to 6 at Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain.
After the Caribbean tour, Pakistan will travel to England for a three-match Test series. The opening Test will be held at Headingley from August 19 to 23, followed by the second at Lord’s from August 27 to 31. The final Test will be played at Edgbaston from September 9 to 13.
