RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan on Monday held a phone call with his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and discussed diplomatic efforts under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding signed between Iran and the United States to end military operations.

They reaffirmed their support for the negotiation process and expressed their hope that it will lead to a lasting agreement that enhances security and stability in the region, the Saudi Foreign Ministry said.

Last week, Tehran and Washington signed the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, laying the groundwork for a 60-day round of negotiations, after nearly 40 days of fighting that was followed by weeks of ceasefire.

Saudi Arabia expresses solidarity with Qatar

Earlier Saudi Arabia expressed solidarity with Qatar and extends its sincere condolences following an internal explosion at a factory in the Ras Laffan Industrial City.

The Kingdom affirms its full support for the brotherly State of Qatar and commends the efforts of the competent authorities in responding to the incident, according to Foreign Ministry.

The Kingdom extended its deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the families of those who lost their lives, wishes a swift recovery to the injured, and hopes for the safe return of all missing persons to their loved ones.

Saudi Arabia and Qatar have in recent years strengthened bilateral relations and expanded cooperation across political and economic fields.

Both countries have maintained close communication on regional diplomacy, Gulf cooperation, energy matters, and international initiatives.
