ABHA, Saudi Arabia: Saudi Arabia’s Aseer region continues to strengthen its position as one of the Kingdom’s leading tourist destinations, with aims to attract more than three million visitors this year.

The area is benefiting from rapidly expanding tourism infrastructure, rising investment in the hospitality sector, and a wide range of events and experiences designed to attract diverse visitor groups, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Sunday.

These developments form part of the broader transformation underway under Saudi Vision 2030.

Statistics released by the Ministry of Tourism indicate sustained growth in the region’s tourism and hospitality sector.

Aseer now offers more than 14,000 accommodation units, providing varied lodging options through both international and local operators.

The hospitality landscape also includes licensed rural tourism facilities, offering distinctive experiences amid the region’s misty mountains and cloud-covered landscapes, highlighting the diversity of choices available to visitors.

Investment has played a central role in boosting accommodation capacity, with several high-quality tourism projects either completed or under development.

The region is also expected to add more than 5,000 additional accommodation units in the coming years through major ongoing developments, aligned with Aseer’s long-term growth strategy.

The Aseer Region Development Authority is working to further enhance accommodation capacity in the region due to increasing visitor numbers.

In collaboration with the private sector and companies linked to the Public Investment Fund, it is advancing initiatives to support this expansion in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

As part of preparations for the 2026 tourism season, Aseer aims to attract more than three million visitors and offer over 100 events and experiences.

These initiatives will highlight a range of prominent natural, heritage, and cultural attractions, including Abu Sarah Palaces, Al-Yanfa Village, and the Sawt Abha Festival.

The historic Tuesday Market will also reopen following its redevelopment, while Talal Maddah Theatre is set to resume its role as a key cultural and artistic venue, hosting a variety of events that further enrich the region’s tourism and cultural landscape.
