ISLAMABAD: Balochistan has received a strong per-capita boost in education and health allocations for 2026/27, reflecting a development approach focused on fairness, public welfare and improved service delivery for smaller and geographically vast provinces.
According to the provincial budget comparison, Pakistan’s total education budget for 2026/27 stands at Rs. 2,311 billion. Punjab has been allocated Rs. 750 billion, Sindh Rs. 620 billion, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rs. 408 billion and Balochistan Rs. 144 billion.
Education spending per person
Despite having the smallest population among the four provinces, Balochistan receives Rs. 10,286 per person for education. This places it among the top provinces in per-capita education spending, close to Sindh’s Rs. 10,690 and ahead of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Rs. 9,951 and Punjab’s Rs. 5,357.
The data shows that Balochistan’s per-capita education allocation is nearly double that of Punjab, highlighting targeted support for educational access and development.
Health allocation strengthens public welfare
In the health sector, Pakistan’s total budget stands at Rs. 1,340 billion. Punjab has been allocated Rs. 500 billion, Sindh Rs. 402 billion, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rs. 276 billion and Balochistan Rs. 96 billion.
Balochistan’s per-capita health allocation stands at Rs. 6,857, compared with Sindh’s Rs. 6,931, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Rs. 6,732 and Punjab’s Rs. 3,571.
The figures show that Balochistan’s per-person health allocation is also nearly double Punjab’s, underlining a policy focus on inclusive development, fair resource distribution and improved public services.
