ISLAMABAD: Claims by the Afghan Taliban regime that it targeted alleged Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) camps in border areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan using rudimentary drones have been rejected as false.

According to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s Fact Checker, the Taliban regime, through its propaganda outlets and official statements, claimed to have carried out drone strikes against alleged ISKP hideouts inside Pakistan.

The Fact Checker termed the claims “false as usual,” stating that camps belonging to Daesh and more than two dozen other terrorist organisations are in fact located, operated and patronised from territories under the control of the Afghan Taliban regime.

It said that in an attempt to conceal its support for terrorist groups operating in neighbouring countries and the wider region, including Daesh, FAK and FAH, the Taliban regime routinely issues what it described as “fake and nefarious statements”.

Fact: One rudimentary drone belonging to the Taliban regime intruded into Pakistan’s airspace near Shinko in Khyber. The drone was immediately identified and neutralised by the Pakistan Air Force’s alert air defence system, the statement said. The ministry stated that the incident exposed the fake claim of Taliban regime.
