GOTHENBURG, Sweden: Saudi Arabia achieved a notable success at the 10th European Physics Olympiad (EuPhO) 2026, held in Gothenburg, Sweden, from June 12 to 16, with nearly 200 students from 40 countries competing in the prestigious event.
Student Hussein Habib Al-Saleh, representing the Riyadh Education Department, won a bronze medal, while Mohammed Abdulrahman Al-Arfaj and Mohammed Mahmoud Al-Ramel, both from the Eastern Region Education Department, received honorable mentions for their outstanding performances, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Tuesday.
With these latest achievements, Saudi Arabia has increased its overall record in eight participations at the European Physics Olympiad to 27 international awards.
The Kingdom’s tally now includes one gold medal, three silver medals, 13 bronze medals, and 10 honorable mentions, reflecting the continued excellence of Saudi students in international scientific competitions.
The European Physics Olympiad (EuPhO) 2026 is an international physics competition for high school students, designed to identify and encourage exceptional talent in physics. It brings together some of the brightest young physics students from across Europe and invited countries worldwide.
