Pakistan spinner achieves career-best rating as Shaheen Afridi returns to top 10

DUBAI: Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed has moved to a career-best second position in the latest ICC ODI bowling rankings following an impressive performance in the recent series against Australia.

Abrar claimed six wickets in the three-match ODI series, helping Pakistan secure a 2-1 victory and boosting his rating to 675 points. The rise sees him climb from fourth place to second, placing him within striking distance of Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan, who continues to lead the rankings.

England fast bowler Jofra Archer has slipped to third place after the latest update.

Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi also made significant progress, breaking into the top 10 ODI bowlers after taking seven wickets against Australia. The left-arm pacer climbed to ninth position with 604 rating points.

Among other Pakistani bowlers, Haris Rauf moved up one place to 18th, while Naseem Shah dropped to 47th. Mohammad Wasim Jr slipped to 68th and Mohammad Nawaz fell one position to 76th.

In the batting rankings, former Pakistan captain Babar Azam retained sixth place. Salman Ali Agha dropped to 16th, while Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman slipped to 31st and 36th respectively.

New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell remains the world’s top-ranked ODI batter ahead of Virat Kohli and Ibrahim Zadran.
