GAZA CITY, Palestine: At least 10 Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip on Sunday, according to Gaza’s civil defence service and hospital officials, as violence continued despite a ceasefire.
Gaza’s civil defence service said the strikes hit multiple locations, including Gaza City, Khan Younis and Deir el-Balah, with hospitals confirming the arrival of bodies and wounded.
The civil defence said the attacks were part of continuing Israeli operations across the Palestinian territory.
A strike on a vehicle near Al-Buraq School in western Gaza City killed four people, according to the civil defence service. Al-Shifa Hospital confirmed it received the four bodies.
A military spokesman told AFP that Israeli forces had struck “two Hamas fighters” in western Gaza City.
In a separate incident, an Israeli airstrike on a police station in the Al-Noss area of the Al-Mawasi district near Khan Younis killed five people and wounded 17 others, according to the civil defence service.
Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis confirmed receiving five bodies and treating wounded patients, some of whom were in critical condition.
The Gaza police directorate also confirmed that Israeli aircraft struck the police station.
The Israeli military said it had “struck a command centre used by operatives of Hamas’s armed wing” in the Al-Mawasi area.
In another incident early on Sunday, Israeli naval forces shot dead a fisherman in Deir el-Balah, according to Al-Aqsa Hospital, which received the body.
The Israeli military said it was reviewing the circumstances of the shooting.
Sunday’s violence followed at least 12 deaths reported on Saturday across Gaza, including a man identified by the Israeli military as a Hamas “commander”.
According to Gaza’s health ministry, at least 961 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire took effect on October 10 last year.
The Israeli military has reported five deaths in its ranks during the same period.
Gaza authorities say the war has killed at least 72,971 people and displaced around 1.9 million residents since the conflict began on October 7, 2023, leaving much of the enclave in ruins.
