He expressed the League’s resolve to deepen engagement through parliamentary diplomacy and sustained dialogue.
Ambassador Abdul Hameed said parliamentary diplomacy remains a key pillar in promoting understanding and trust between Pakistan and Japan.
Friendship League serves as an effective platform for dialogue, exchange of ideas, and identification of new areas of cooperation, he added.
For more than seven decades, Pakistan and Japan have maintained friendly relations that have expanded across multiple sectors including economic development, education, technology, trade, cultural exchange and people-to-people linkages, he noted.
The ambassador highlighted significant potential for cooperation in information technology, digital transformation, renewable energy, agriculture, minerals, advanced manufacturing, human resource development and infrastructure.
Pakistan’s young population, strategic geographic location and ongoing economic reforms offer attractive opportunities for international investors and development partners, the ambassador said, elaborating on new openings.
Members of the Friendship League later engaged in an interactive session with the ambassador, discussing ways to strengthen bilateral ties and expand business and investment opportunities in Pakistan.
The Japan-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship League (JPPFL) is a bipartisan parliamentary group in Japan’s National Diet dedicated to strengthening bilateral relations, economic cooperation, and diplomatic exchange between Japan and Pakistan.
The league was officially revived and inaugurated by Pakistani Ambassador Abdul Hameed, with Member of the House of Representatives Seiji Maehara serving as its Chairman.
