Iran Lauds Pakistan for Repatriating 20 Iranian Sailors from Seized Vessel

ISLAMABAD: Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, has praised Pakistan for its humanitarian and diplomatic efforts in securing the release and repatriation of 20 Iranian sailors aboard vessel seized by the United States in Singapore’s international waters.

In a statement posted on X, the ambassador lauded the Government of Pakistan for its constructive role in resolving the maritime issue involving Iranian nationals affected after their vessel was seized in Singapore waters. He said Pakistan’s intervention reflected its commitment to humanitarian principles and regional cooperation.

He particularly acknowledged the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the coordinated efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with other institutions involved in the diplomatic process.

According to the ambassador, the sailors were transferred from Singapore to Islamabad following successful diplomatic coordination. They were then facilitated for onward travel and safely returned to Iran within hours, marking a swift conclusion to the operation.

He described Pakistan’s role as “commendable and humane,” calling it an example of effective diplomatic engagement that ensured the safe return of Iranian citizens.
