Pakistan Issues Rs.75 Coin to Commemorate 75 Years of Ironclad Relationship with China

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has announced a special Rs.75 commemorative coin to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations with China, available to the public from May 25, 2026, as a tangible symbol of the two nations’ ‘ironclad’ friendship.

The coin will be distributed through the exchange counters of field offices of the State Bank of Pakistan Banking Services Corporation. It may be recalled that Pakistan and China formally established diplomatic relations on May 21, 1951.

Coin specifications

The commemorative coin shall be round in shape, milled with serration on the edge, with the following specifications:

  • Metal composition: Copper-Nickel (75% Copper & 25% Nickel)
  • Dimension: 0 mm
  • Weight: 0 grams

Obverse Side

On the obverse side, the waxing crescent moon and five-pointed star facing North-West in rising position appears in the center. Along the periphery on the top of the crescent star is inscribed the wording ‘Islami Jamhuriya Pakistan’ in Urdu script.

Below the crescent and on top of two springs of wheat with arms curved upward is the year of issuance ‘2026’. The face value of the coin in numeral ‘75’ in bold letters and ‘RUPIA’ in Urdu script are written on the right and left sides of the crescent star respectively.

Reverse Side

On the reverse side, the wording ‘75th Anniversary of Pakistan and China Diplomatic Relations’ in English script is written along the periphery on the top side, and the words ‘Trust, Friendship, Support’ in English script are written along the periphery on the lower side.

In the centre, the national flags of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the People’s Republic of China are shown. Below the flags, an artistically designed numeral ‘75’ represents the event. The years ‘1951’ and ‘2026’ appear on the left and right sides of the numeral ‘75’. The wording ‘Pak Cheen Safarti Taluqaat ke 75 Saal’ in Urdu and Chinese script is written above the national flags.

The wording ‘Eitimad-Dosti- Mu’awanat’ in Urdu and Chinese script is written below the artistically designed numeral “75”.

The public can obtain the coin from May 25, 2026, through designated SBP Banking Services Corporation counters nationwide.

Earlier on Wednesday, the upper house of Pakistan (the Senate) passed a resolution to commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties with China.

The resolution, moved by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the one-China principle and expressed solidarity with China on issues concerning Xinjiang, Tibet, Hong Kong, and the South China Sea.

The House also reiterated its full support for CPEC and appreciated China’s steadfast support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. A Chinese delegation led by Vice Chairman of the National People’s Congress, Cai Dafeng, witnessed the Senate proceedings.
