The conversation took place against the backdrop of an intrusion into Saudi airspace on Sunday by three drones from Iraqi territory.
Defence ministry spokesman Major General Turki Al-Maliki had said that all three drones were intercepted and destroyed by the Saudi air defence systems.
He added the Kingdom reserves the right to respond “at the appropriate time and place” to any threat targeting the Kingdom’s sovereignty, security, and the safety of its citizens and residents on its territory.
He further added that Saudi Arabia would take all necessary operational measures to confront any attempt to violate its airspace or endanger the safety of citizens and residents.
It may be recalled that the OIC, GCC, the Arab League, and several Arab and Muslim nations also denounced the intrusion of the Saudi airspace by the drones launched from Iraqi territory.
