MADINAH: Saudi authorities have expanded the guidance and directional signage system across Madinah for the Hajj season 2026 to improve movement for pilgrims, visitors and residents and enhance access to key religious and historical sites.
The Madinah Municipality enhanced its guidance and directional signage system across various locations and major roads in Madinah as part of its operational plans for the Hajj season, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
The initiative aims to facilitate the movement of pilgrims, visitors, and residents, improve the quality of life, and enrich the experience of reaching vital and historical landmarks.
The municipality stated that the efforts included installing 105 pedestrian directional signs to facilitate safe movement, 334 hotel numbering signs to help visitors access accommodation facilities, and 344 traffic signs to enhance road safety and improve traffic flow on major roads and thoroughfares.
The work also included installing 150 pedestrian crossing numbering signs to regulate traffic flow, 89 street name signs to improve route clarity, and four vehicle directional signs to support traffic movement.
The system further included four models marking entrances to the Prophet’s Mosque parking areas to facilitate entry and exit, four informational models introducing the central area, and four clock models to assist with navigation and time management.
Additionally, nine informational panels highlighting historical sites were installed to enhance the religious and cultural experience of pilgrims and visitors to Madinah.
The municipality emphasised that these efforts form part of an integrated system that mobilises all available resources to serve pilgrims during the Hajj season.
The initiative reflects the level of attention given to municipal services and supports the objectives of enhancing the urban landscape and quality of life in Madinah, according to SPA.
