JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, on Friday held a telephonic conversation with Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani during which the two sides discussed regional and international developments.

During the call, the two sides also discussed areas of cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Qatar, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

They also examined regional and international developments, the changing situation in the area, and ongoing measures to strengthen security and stability.

The discussion comes at a time when Middle Eastern countries are intensifying diplomatic engagement to address a range of regional challenges, including ongoing conflicts, humanitarian concerns, and efforts to promote dialogue and de-escalation.

It may be recalled that Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan on Tuesday spoke over the phone with the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, to discuss the latest regional developments and ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at bringing security and stability across the Middle East.

Earlier, Saudi Arabia’s cabinet had strongly condemned treacherous attacks on the territories and territorial waters of the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Kuwait.

On the other hand, the Strait of Hormuz — a crucial global energy shipping route linking Gulf oil producers to the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea — has remained largely shut down.

Saudi Arabia and Qatar have in recent years strengthened bilateral relations and expanded cooperation across political and economic fields.

Both countries have maintained close communication on regional diplomacy, Gulf cooperation, energy matters, and international initiatives.
