Pakistan Navy leadership highlights deterrence, diplomacy, and narrative-building in post-Marka-e-Haq regional environment

LAHORE: Vice Admiral Raja Rab Nawaz, Chief of Staff of the Pakistan Navy, has stated that during Marka-e-Haq (Battle of Truth), the Pakistan Navy’s strategic acumen, professionalism, and unwavering resolve played a decisive role in deterring adversarial threats and ensuring stability in the maritime domain.

He said the need for sustained institutional engagement to strengthen credible deterrence and develop a coherent national strategic narrative.

He made these remarks while speaking as the Chief Guest at a high-level seminar titled “Marka-e-Haq After One Year: Deterrence, Diplomacy and Narrative in South Asia”, organised by the Maritime Centre of Excellence (MCE) at the Pakistan Navy War College (PNWC), Lahore.

The event brought together senior military leadership, diplomats, academics, media professionals, and university students to deliberate on evolving regional security dynamics and Pakistan’s strategic posture.

In his keynote address, he emphasised that the development of credible deterrence and a coherent national strategic narrative requires continuous and structured engagement among military institutions, academia, the media, and the diplomatic community.

He added that such collaboration is essential for strengthening national understanding of security challenges and enhancing Pakistan’s strategic communication framework.

President of the Maritime Centre of Excellence, Rear Admiral Sohail Ahmad Azmie, also addressed the seminar.

He underscored the importance of objective, analytical, and evidence-based evaluation of Pakistan’s deterrence posture as well as its diplomatic positioning in the post-Marka-e-Haq regional environment.

He highlighted that a balanced assessment of evolving geopolitical realities is vital for informed policy formulation and strategic preparedness.

The seminar featured a range of scholarly presentations delivered by distinguished experts, focusing on deterrence stability, diplomatic engagement, and narrative-building in South Asia’s complex security landscape.

The discussions also examined regional power dynamics and the role of information and perception in modern strategic affairs.

The event concluded with an acknowledgment of the importance of continued dialogue between civil and military intellectual circles to strengthen Pakistan’s strategic outlook and reinforce national cohesion in addressing contemporary security challenges.
