ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Navy has rescued crew members, including Indian and Indonesian nationals, from a malfunctioning merchant vessel in the Arabian Sea, after it developed a technical fault during a voyage from Oman to India, state media reported on Monday.
Pakistan Navy personnel are providing emergency assistance to the crew of the malfunctioning vessel MV Gautam, which includes six Indian nationals and one Indonesian crew member, according to security sources.
The Maritime Rescue and Coordination Center (MRCC) Mumbai contacted Pakistani authorities after the vessel, en route from Oman to India, developed a technical fault.

In response, the Pakistan Navy promptly deployed a ship of the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency, Kashmir, to conduct the rescue operation.
Sources added that the affected crew members are being provided with food, medical care, and technical support.
The Pakistan Navy has reaffirmed its readiness and commitment to extending effective assistance in maritime emergencies.
In recent years, the Pakistan Navy has conducted multiple rescue and evacuation operations across regional waters, particularly assisting distressed merchant vessels and fishing boats, in line with its maritime safety responsibilities.
Earlier in April, the Pakistan Navy successfully rescued and evacuated 18 crew members of a merchant vessel in the North Arabian Sea following a distress call, according to the military’s media wing.
