NEW DELHI: A 30-year-old Delhi judicial officer was found dead at his residence in the Safdarjung area, with police launching an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The judge, who was posted at Karkardooma court, was discovered hanging in the bathroom of his second-floor flat on Saturday, officials said.
Authorities were alerted after the door was found locked from the inside, prompting police and building staff to enter the flat by breaking a window.
He was taken to Safdarjung Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
While police have not confirmed the cause of death, a relative alleged that the officer had been facing domestic issues in recent weeks.
According to the relative, the judge had contacted his father shortly before the incident. “Upon arriving, he (father of the judge) learned that he had been having conflicts with his wife. He told his father that he had been harassed for the last two months,” the relative said.
The father had travelled to Delhi after receiving a distress call and was reportedly present in the flat at the time of the incident.
The relative further claimed tensions escalated within the household shortly before the death.
Police said no signs of foul play have been found so far, but all aspects are being examined. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and investigations are ongoing.
