KARACHI: Pakistan is looking to expand its rice exports to Oman following a series of high-level engagements aimed at strengthening bilateral trade relations between the two countries.
The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), in coordination with the Embassy of Pakistan in Oman, facilitated a three-day visit of a delegation from the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) to Oman from April 27 to 29, 2026.
The initiative focused on exploring new opportunities in the rice sector and enhancing commercial cooperation.
The 18-member REAP delegation began its engagements with a meeting at the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), led by Chairman Sheikh Faisal bin Abdullah Al Rawas. Discussions centred on increasing Pakistan’s rice exports and expanding trade partnerships.
During the talks, the OCCI chairman expressed strong interest in boosting bilateral trade and announced plans to send a multi-sector delegation of Omani importers to Pakistan in the third week of May.
He also highlighted ongoing efforts to address visa-related challenges for Pakistani nationals, expressing confidence in a positive resolution soon.
As part of the visit, the Pakistan mission in Muscat, in collaboration with OCCI, organised a business networking event linking REAP members with key players in Oman’s rice market.
The event brought together major importers, distributors, hypermarkets and food companies, providing a platform for direct engagement and future deals.
Officials say the visit reflects Pakistan’s broader strategy to diversify export markets and strengthen trade partnerships in the Gulf region, with rice remaining one of the country’s key export commodities.
