DHAKA, Bangladesh: Bangladesh national cricket team have announced a 15-member squad for the first Test against Pakistan, set to begin on May 8 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium as part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025–27 cycle.
Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto will continue to lead the side, with all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz named as vice-captain for the match.
New faces included
The squad features two uncapped players, Tanzid Hasan and Amite Hasan, both of whom are in line to make their Test debuts. Tanzid has already established himself in limited-overs cricket, having represented Bangladesh in ODIs and T20Is, while Amite, a middle-order batter, has impressed in domestic cricket with a strong first-class average.
Experienced names such as Mushfiqur Rahim, Litton Das, Mominul Haque and Taskin Ahmed have also been included, providing balance to the squad. Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam return to the Test setup after last featuring in 2024, while spinner Nayeem Hasan also makes a comeback.
Series schedule
Bangladesh currently sit eighth in the World Test Championship standings and will look to improve their position against Pakistan.
The first Test will be played in Dhaka from May 8 to 12, followed by the second Test in Sylhet from May 16 to 20.
