RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan held a telephonic conversation with Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament Nabih Berri and discussed diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a complete end to Israeli attacks against Lebanon.

The foreign minister reaffirmed the Kingdom’s support for Lebanon’s stability and its commitment to strengthening state institutions, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Thursday.

Speaker Nabih Berri commended the Kingdom’s role and its ongoing efforts to support Lebanon’s security and broader regional stability.

He also reiterated Lebanon’s adherence to the Taif Agreement and its opposition to any actions that could undermine the Kingdom’s security.

Israeli and Lebanese ambassadors are set to meet in Washington on Thursday evening in an effort to extend a fragile 10-day ceasefire that took effect last week.

The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has resulted in more than 2,400 deaths in Lebanon.
