KARACHI: Rawalpindiz captain Mohammad Rizwan won the toss and opted to bat first against former champions Multan Sultans in the 31st match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 at the National Bank Stadium on Tuesday.

Head-to-head record

Tuesday’s fixture marks only the second meeting between the two sides. Their maiden encounter saw the 2021 champions, Multan Sultans, emerge victorious by seven wickets.

Form guide

The two teams enter the contest with contrasting momentum. Multan Sultans currently sit second in the standings with 10 points from seven matches.

The Sultans opened their PSL 11 campaign with back-to-back victories over Islamabad United and debutants Hyderabad Kingsmen, before suffering a 20-run defeat to defending champions Lahore Qalandars in a rain-affected, high-scoring contest.

The former champions staged an impressive recovery, winning their next two matches comprehensively against Quetta Gladiators and Rawalpindiz respectively, before league leaders Peshawar Zalmi halted their winning streak. Multan returned to winning ways last week by defeating home side Karachi Kings at the same venue.

Rawalpindiz, in stark contrast, have lost all seven of their matches and are consequently out of the playoff race.
