ISLAMABAD: Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah has been ruled out of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 11 after sustaining a side injury, dealing a major setback to his franchise.
Team management confirmed on Monday that the right-arm pacer suffered the injury during a recent match against Karachi Kings and has been declared unfit for an indefinite period.
He was forced to leave the field mid-match after experiencing discomfort while bowling.
The franchise, RawalPindiz, said in a statement that Naseem would miss the remainder of the tournament for now, with his return dependent on rehabilitation and medical clearance.
“The team’s medical staff are closely monitoring his recovery and are targeting a possible return towards the end of the tournament, subject to fitness,” the statement said.
The management described his presence as “invaluable” and expressed full support for the player during his recovery period.
Officials said initial medical assessments have ruled him out until further notice, with no definitive timeline provided.
Despite the setback, the franchise expressed optimism that he could return in the latter stages of the tournament if rehabilitation progresses well.
The 25-year-old had a modest start to the tournament. He picked up one wicket against Karachi Kings and went wicketless while conceding 51 runs in his opening match.
