SHABWAH, Yemen: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has distributed 1,000 cartons of dates among vulnerable families in Yemen’s Shabwah Governorate, benefiting approximately 6,000 individuals, as part of its 2026 humanitarian food assistance programme.

The distribution drive forms a key component of Saudi Arabia’s broader relief strategy aimed at addressing food insecurity and alleviating hardship in Yemen, where years of conflict have left millions in urgent need of basic necessities, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Monday.

Local officials and beneficiaries welcomed the initiative, highlighting its importance in supporting displaced families and low-income communities struggling to secure daily food supplies. Dates, a staple food item rich in essential nutrients, are particularly valued for their role in providing quick and sustainable nourishment.

KSrelief stated that the programme is part of a series of ongoing humanitarian efforts carried out across various Yemeni governorates. These initiatives are designed to meet immediate food needs while also contributing to longer-term stability by supporting the most vulnerable segments of society.

Saudi Arabia, through KSrelief, continues to expand its relief operations in Yemen, focusing on food distribution, healthcare services, and emergency aid, in coordination with local and international partners.

The latest distribution in Shabwah underscores the Kingdom’s sustained commitment to humanitarian assistance, aiming to ease the suffering of Yemeni civilians and improve living conditions amid persistent economic and humanitarian challenges.
