JERUSALEM: The military of Israel has issued an urgent evacuation warning for areas surrounding the main border crossing between Syria and Lebanon, saying it intends to carry out imminent airstrikes in the vicinity.

In a statement released on Saturday, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said the planned strikes would target the Masnaa Crossing, which it claims has been used by Hezbollah for military purposes and for the smuggling of weapons and combat equipment.

“Due to Hezbollah’s use of the Masnaa Crossing for military purposes and smuggling of combat equipment, the IDF intends to carry out strikes on the crossing in the near future,” said military spokesperson Colonel Avichay Adraee.

According to AFP, the warning comes amid heightened tensions along the Israel–Lebanon frontier, where cross-border hostilities have intensified in recent months. Israel has also expanded its military operations in southern Lebanon since early March, describing them as part of ongoing actions against Hezbollah positions.

Residents in the area have been urged to evacuate immediately as a precaution, though no timeframe for the strikes was specified. The situation has raised concerns over potential disruption to one of the key civilian and commercial crossings between Syria and Lebanon.
