ISLAMABAD: Pakistani female adventure athlete Samar Khan has completed a gruelling 300-kilometre dogsled expedition across the Arctic, marking a significant milestone for Pakistan in global endurance sports.

Khan crossed the finish line of the Fjällräven Polar 2026, a multi-day challenge that takes participants through extreme sub-zero conditions and remote Arctic terrain.

Endurance test in extreme conditions

The expedition, organised by Swedish outdoor brand Fjällräven, is considered one of the world’s toughest Arctic challenges.

Participants travel by dogsled across frozen landscapes, enduring harsh weather, physical fatigue and isolation.

Khan described the journey as more than a physical test, saying it pushed her through “exhaustion, doubt, and limits I didn’t know existed”.

She added that the silence of the Arctic forced her to confront both hardship and self-belief.

She revealed that she received her stamped passport just one day before her flight.

“From visa uncertainties to receiving my stamped passport just one day before my flight… this journey challenged me long before it even began,” she wrote on Instagram.

Khan completed the expedition, demonstrating resilience and mental strength required for survival in extreme environments.

Moment of national pride

Khan framed her achievement as both personal and national.

“Still taking it all in… but this moment belongs to Pakistan,” she said, highlighting the significance of representing the country on an international platform.

She also thanked the organisers and Swedish authorities for facilitating her participation in the expedition.

Khan’s accomplishment underscores the growing presence of Pakistani athletes in global adventure sports.

She encouraged others to challenge perceived limits.

“For everyone who’s ever been told ‘you can’t’, this is your sign. You can,” she said.
