RIYADH: Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman has met with British Secretary of State for Defence John Healey in Riyadh and discussed regional developments.

During the meeting, they also reviewed the strategic defence partnership between the two nations and explored opportunities for its further development, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Monday.

The two sides reviewed ongoing regional developments and their implications for the security and stability of both the region and the wider international community.

They also strongly condemned the continued Iranian attacks targeting the Kingdom, underscoring the need for collective efforts to de-escalate tensions.

The meeting was attended by several senior officials from both sides.

Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom share a longstanding and strategic defence partnership built on mutual security interests and regional stability.

The cooperation includes joint military training, defence procurement, intelligence sharing, and counterterrorism efforts.

Both sides regularly engage in high-level defence dialogues and joint exercises to enhance interoperability between their armed forces.

The United Kingdom has also been a key partner in supporting Saudi Arabia’s defence modernisation and capacity-building initiatives.

In recent years, the partnership has expanded to address emerging challenges such as cyber threats, maritime security, and regional conflict dynamics, reflecting a shared commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the Middle East and beyond.
