ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s current petroleum stocks are sufficient to meet domestic demand through April and beyond, officials told a high-level review meeting on Thursday, amid global energy supply disruptions due to the Middle East conflict.
The meeting, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, assessed the country’s fuel supply situation and broader energy security outlook at a time of heightened geopolitical uncertainty in the Middle East.
Officials briefed the meeting that current inventories of petroleum products were adequate to ensure an uninterrupted supply nationwide in the near term, despite external pressures on global energy markets.
Dar expressed satisfaction over the supply position and directed relevant ministries and regulatory bodies to maintain close coordination across federal and provincial levels to ensure smooth distribution and continuity of supply.
He also instructed authorities to take all necessary measures to safeguard supply chains and prevent any disruption in the availability of petroleum products in the coming weeks.
The meeting was attended by the federal ministers for petroleum and economic affairs, the special assistant to the prime minister on finance, federal secretaries, and senior officials from all provinces.
The review comes as policymakers closely monitor developments in the Middle East, where tensions have raised concerns about potential volatility in global oil prices and shipping routes.
Pakistan, which relies heavily on imported petroleum products to meet its energy needs, remains sensitive to shifts in global supply dynamics, making stock levels a key focus of economic management.
Officials said continuous monitoring systems remain in place to ensure timely procurement and stable distribution of fuel across the country.
