ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways has achieved an all-time high in passenger revenue during the Eid holidays, an official statement confirmed on Tuesday. The national rail carrier earned more than Rs480 million ($1.7 million) over three days, reflecting ongoing efforts to revitalise the country’s railway system and upgrade passenger services.
According to official figures, train operations brought in Rs110 million on the first day of Eid, Rs170 million on the second, and over Rs200 million on the third. Total earnings from passenger trains over the past week exceeded Rs1 billion.

Minister credits policy measures for success
Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi praised the achievement, stating that the record revenue stems from effective policies. He commended the railway administration for its performance and directed officials to maintain their focus on enhancing passenger amenities.
Abbasi emphasised that travelers deserve both improved facilities and a robust railway track, adding that the government is actively pursuing progress on both fronts.
Karachi–Rohri track upgrade set for completion in three years
The minister also announced that the Karachi–Rohri railway track will undergo a complete upgrade within the next three years. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to modernise rail infrastructure and strengthen connectivity across key routes.
