RIYADH: The Asian ambassadors expressed their strong condemnation of Iranian attacks on Saudi Arabia, Gulf States affirming solidarity with the Kingdom’s efforts to preserve regional security and stability.

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Waleed Elkhereiji held a meeting on Sunday in Riyadh with the ambassadors of Asian countries to the Kingdom, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The Asian ambassadors strongly condemned the recent Iranian attacks targeting Saudi Arabia, Gulf States, and several other Arab and Islamic countries, while praising the Kingdom’s efforts to maintain regional security, protect Saudi territory, and effectively respond to all acts of aggression.

The ambassadors also expressed their gratitude for the Kingdom’s support in evacuating their citizens and facilitating their safe return home.

Earlier, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan received a phone call from French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot during which the two sides discussed latest regional developments.

During the call, the two diplomats discussed the latest regional developments and their implications for regional and international security and stability, a Foreign Ministry statement said.

The conversation also underscored the need for continued coordination between Riyadh and Paris on regional security issues, with both sides agreeing on the significance of diplomatic engagement and multilateral approaches to de-escalate conflicts.

The conflict, now more than two weeks old, has seen sustained military action from both sides since US and Israeli forces launched attacks on Iran on February 28.

The tensions have centred on the Strait of Hormuz, through which roughly one-fifth of the world’s crude oil normally passes.

Iranian attacks on vessels and shipping infrastructure have severely disrupted maritime traffic in the strategic waterway linking the Gulf to the Arabian Sea.
