RIYADH: The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs has welcomed the adoption of a resolution by the United Nations Security Council condemning Iranian attacks on Gulf countries, describing the measure as an important step toward addressing escalating regional aggression.
The resolution, jointly submitted by Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, and Jordan, strongly condemned recent Iranian missile and drone strikes targeting Gulf nations and Jordan. The text states that such actions violate international law and pose a serious threat to international peace and security.
In an official statement, the Saudi Foreign Ministry praised the Security Council’s action and emphasised the importance of unified international opposition to attacks that undermine regional stability. The ministry said the resolution represents a significant step toward holding those responsible for aggression against Gulf states accountable.
“The Kingdom welcomes the contents of the resolution, including its condemnation of attacks on residential areas and civilian infrastructure, which resulted in casualties and damage to civilian buildings,” the statement said, expressing solidarity with the affected countries and their people.

The ministry also highlighted the strong international support condemning Iran’s actions and called for the attacks to stop immediately and unconditionally. It urged an end to provocations and threats against neighbouring countries.
“The Kingdom affirms the contents of the resolution and its full right to take necessary measures to protect its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and to deter aggression, as recognised in Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations,” the statement added.
The resolution reflects growing concern among the international community over rising tensions in the Gulf and the potential risks to global security. Members of the Security Council stressed the importance of upholding international law and maintaining stability in the strategically vital region.
The council also called on Iran to halt its hostile activities and avoid further escalation that could destabilise the region. It urged all parties to pursue diplomatic engagement and dialogue to resolve their differences peacefully.
The move comes amid heightened tensions following missile and drone attacks targeting several Gulf states, raising security concerns across the region. The Security Council underscored that stability in the Gulf remains crucial for international peace, global energy security, and the protection of civilian populations.
